New Skins Half Prices and PVP Rewards

Arr pirates!! There be new wind in our sails in Pirates Tides of Fortune, so let's share few words with one another regarding these.

First up we have New Haven Skins called Chateau d'If and Rumrunner's Rock, both giving +1000 Defense and costing 5000 Rubies. Me favorite be the Chateau d'If - me think it be really nice. Did ye buy any of these? What do ye think 'bout the design? Put down in the comments.

Next, we have the new Lonely Captain Quest which be basically a smashing challenge to raid and murder other captains and their Havens. The more destruction ye be causing the more booty ye be getting as reward, with the top place getting 15,000 Rubies and 5 Pearls and, more important than all of that, a 5% reduction in the consumption of Rum, which be meaning same thing as a 5% increase in the army.

So it be good to scout a lot looking fer some easy targets, but to be honest my efforts be not successful 'cause I wanted to lose as little army as possible and find easy to kill enemy troops.

They be also combining the booty we raid in into a total gained amount, which be looking really nice, but, of course, it be a little bit misleading 'cause Rum only be having half the value compared to other resources.

Here ye see one of the targets me found with easy 38 Bonnies to be killed gave me 100 ranking points and 37 experience.

And last, but definitely not the least, we be getting half prices now in the Smuggler's Den, which means all the people who like to buy ships and units there should be super happy. Our new unit, the fast and high capacity ship, Dagger, for example, be costing now only 128 Rubies, which be a totally different story.

Catching Yer Enemy’s Mistakes

Arr pirates!! Fighting a war with one or more Havens be not the most easy of things, but to increase yer chances of success, to increase the chances of yer pirates obliterating the enemy forces and sending them somewhere where they cannot find any Rum to drink means checking up on yer enemy more often then ye check on yer own mother :)

If ye check on their Haven often ye might find them making a mistake of leaving their offensive troops out in the open, which often happens when captains send out raids but are not at home when the raid comes back or are distracted by one of million things which is not yer problem, so if ye see their troops sitting drinking Rum strike fast and strike hard.

Ye see on the picture below how I destroy a massive amount of me enemy's offensive power gained 408 experience and lost only 8 Bombardiers. I was very pleased by this result and declared several hours of Rum drinking on me Haven as a celebration of crushing me enemy's forces! :)

Emergency Raiding with Defensive Units

Arr pirates!! Have ye ever seen a very sweet target but all yer army is out raiding and pillaging somewhere and ye just don't have the troops to raid this juicy nice Haven that ye found? Well, there are 2 choices ye can make from this:

1) Ye can sit and wait for yer offensive troops to come back to yer Haven so that ye can send them out to this new target.
But remember the longer you wait the more chance some other pirate will raid and take all those resources.

2) Take a risk and send yer DEFENSIVE pirates to quickly grab those resources!
But here also, remember that this be super risky undertaking and ye should do this when y'ar relatively sure that there be no defense out there.
How can ye be sure?
Well, if it is a target ye raided many times before and there is a good history - is one indicator. If the target be close to yer Haven so that ye get in and out quick with yer army is another indication.
But nobody can give ye a 100% guarantee - this is a risky action which best be taken with a barrel of Rum emptied all by yer-self.

Check below picture for an example me scouted a sweet target with ~19k resources and sent a whole heap of defensive units and grabbed a very nice chunk of gold and lumber and Rum. All my Haven celebrated into the morning, at least half of that Rum was drunk :)

Inactive Haven Wakes up Suddenly

Arr pirates!! Ye gotta be ready and strong to receive absolutely unexpected bad news anytime when playing Pirates Tides of Fortune! Why ye say I be saying such a thing? Well, ye see on the below picture what a terrible loss I had attacking this Haven - this Haven was completely inactive and me army raided it a number of times in the past and there be never any defense there. I was 100% sure there be no defense and just 1 time I sent out a raid on it without scouting as I had good history raiding without any trouble with this Haven and BAM! - all of a sudden he be waking up and putting out all the defense he probably had hidden away in the Harbor exactly on the day when I did not scout - bad luck!

But can happen with anyone anytime - so be ready for accidents and be ready fer rebuilding what ye lost!

High Levels Send Million+ Raids

Arr pirates!! Have ye ever been wondering what kind of offensive power the higher level players have? Well I am here to show ye that with an example! Here be a level 61 player from one of the top Brotherhoods sending a raid on me Haven. We have no quarrel, this was just a random raid he sent one time without scouting or anything, but it be interesting for me to look and see the sort of an army that such high level players have and raid with. And as I show ye on the below picture he be raiding with 1 million + offense points, again, no scouting was done. I also know that some of the most top people easily can send 3 million offense points on a raid. So if ye be struggling with few thousands to begin with ye can know that in the future ye be dealing in millions!

100k+ Resources - My Record Find

Arr pirates!! Remember I be telling ye to scout aggressively with yer Flying Dutchmen looking fer some juicy targets to raid in between of yer enjoyment of drinking barrels of Rum? Well here be my victorious day as I found my record fat and juicy full of gold and lumber and Rum resources Haven and I want to share this with ye to give ye inspiration to look harder and find good targets for yer pirate crew to raid!

Ye Raid Based on Yer Imagination

Arr pirates!! Ye may be thinking I put a strange topic "Raiding based on yer Imagination" but this be true I bet ye 10 barrels of Rum on it.

Ye see when ye start out ye be super happy raiding small Havens and getting 1000-2000 resources without any fight. Ye can even grow big doing that 10 times per day, but here I am to tell ye that ye better grow yer imagination because there is a lot more out there to raid than 1000-2000 size Havens!

And to prove it to ye I be putting below just some examples from me recent scouting and ye know what? I am even sure there are targets a lot better than these!

(by the way I don't always scout with 7 Flying Dutchmen, I did just this time and i felt like 7 was a good number as I was ready to plunder and raid these :P)

Be Aggressive in All Actions in PTOF

Arr pirates!! Here ye be reminded or given confidence to put some ARRRR in yer actions! Be strong, be confident and be a true Pirate!! Arrr!!

Send lots of scouts, yer Flying Dutchmen got no use sitting and blowing hot air. Send those rascals out and let em die if need be.

Do ye see a blockade belonging to yer enemy? Don't be lazy - liberate that Haven, every slap ye can give to yer enemy is a slap worth a barrel of Rum!

Do ye see a shipmate in danger? Send yer defense and give em a hand. They be helping when ye be looking into a thousand cannons pointed yer way!

And raid, raid and then raid some more. Gold, Lumber and Rum are not going to appear magically in yer Haven, ye gotta take it with force!

Don’t be afraid to scout raid far

Arr pirates!! Here be some education and motivation to tell yer lazy Rum drinking pirates to not be afraid to scout far with yer Flying Dutchmen. Here ye see on the picture an example of me sending a whole wave of Flying Dutchmen south (down) of me Haven and ye see an example of me sending a raid far away to the East (right side) where I be planning on getting 50,000 resources.

Big Raid Smashed with Brotherhood

Arr pirates!! I be telling ye now of some benefits and costs of joining a Brotherhood in Pirates Tides of Fortune. I know we pirates are free souls and we be not wanting to have no rules and we be wanting our freedom, but ye are still better off joining a Brotherhood so ye can better help each other against other groups of pirates. Sure, that be meaning that sometimes or a lot of times ye have to send yer troops to Brotherhood Havens to help defend, but other times yer friends will come and help ye out if ye are in a tough corner.

Here be an example of such a case where a big attack was coming me way and so I made it known in the Brotherhood channel that this be happening and we said no way, nobody gonna raid our Brotherhood. By the way our Brotherhood be the Smiling Death - a Top 3 ranked smashing guys. Here be our flag and leader:

So as I was saying, the raid was coming my way but the reinforcements were much faster as the travel time between Brotherhood members is faster.

...and so when the raid arrived there was a serious bloodbath and the attacker was crushed completely! So here be the lesson: get into a good Brotherhood (BH) and communicate with yer friends and help them and let them help ye out, so yer all can grow strong together!

Scout a lot to Find Raid Targets

Arr pirates!! I be emphasizing again to ye the importance of scouting! Scout a lot to find really good targets fer raiding. Anyone after level ~15 can be good, also look that they be not part of a Brotherhood at all or the BH they in be very weak.

And there be no such thing as too little, here be 30 of me Flying Dutchmen going off in one direction:

Understanding Underway Raids

Arrr pirates!! As ye play ye will be raided so it's good to know for that to understand the UNDERWAY RAIDS and use it as much as possible.

When ye be raided ye be getting a small red box on the bottom left of yer game showing that in so much time (see picture example 1 hour and 40 minutes) ye will be hit. Now there are 2 types of these: RAID and BLOCKADE.

During a RAID they be coming, smashing, grabbing stuff and leaving.
During a BLOCKADE they be coming and staying!! (and giving you a chance to smash them and liberate yer Haven)

Now the UNDERWAY tab can help you not only with the time. Unfortunately there is no way of seeing what kind of army is attacking, but here it be showing the army SPEED. In the picture you can see that the speed of the raid that is coming to me Haven is 6.2 mph and this is telling me 2 things:

1) For sure this army be coming with MARAUDERS because they are slow with that kinda speed.

2a) It could be just 1 Marauder.

2b) But since this guy also sent me an angry message saying he is going to destroy me then it is telling me that he sent his entire offense because nobody likes to send the slow Marauders except when you are doing an all out full force attack.

With this information I can choose to stand and defend or just hide away in my Harbor :)




Otherwise, if ye see speed of say 18 mph then ye know this be fast things like fast ships - this one ye should be more careful with. If this be coming from a higher level pirate then he might just want to slap you with a portion of his army - just the fast units - for a quick slap and back home. But ye know this is not all his ships because a lot of ships also have speed of 12 mph.

Stupid Raid Decisions

Arr pirates!! Today I had a very unfortunate, stupid, a few levels higher, pirate who scouted my New Tortuga skin Haven with full ground defenses (="look it's a heavy casher") with 28 Flying Dutchmen and failed miserably:

... and if that was not enough clue for him that there is a large defense force sitting there he decided to launch a blind attack anyways... "look at me, I gotz no brainz"...

so as you can see on the below picture he raided my Haven with a much stronger force but since i had very good defense for my level + the fact that I am a strong casher Haven he lost tons of his offensive power. Sure, he completely destroyed my defense (which by the way i immediately bought back with rubies) but what a stupid decision to blindly raid a heavily defended and super active casher gaining just a couple of thousand of resources and losing a massive amount of yer army.

So the lesson here is - always scout and do intelligent attacks whereby you can gain more than you lose, so that you can grow.

By the way I was online during this attack and i hit away my Flying Dutchmen and my offense but I left my defense there on purpose (could have easily hid it) to smash down his army since i have tons of rubies and i just buy them all back. But this really annoyed me because it was just a waste of rubies, even if i have a lot of them.

Large Raid Destroyed due to not Scouting

Arrr pirates! It be very important to scout before you raid otherwise you run the risk of losing all your armada!! If the scouting fails it means that there are defensive Flying Dutchmen. That can mean 2 things:

1. There is a very weak defense and the Flying Dutchmen posted there are trying to hide the fact that the defense is weak.
2. A more likely option: there is a strong defense.

Now on the battle picture below you see this not-very-smart pirate who tried to scout my well defended target, failed, and decided to send a large attacking force including offense as well as defense to capture the target I was holding. He lost everything!

2. He made a very bad decision to send all his offensive and defensive pirate forces and lost everything:

And I was angry that I lost some of my pirates and also at the fact that he so carelessly attacked so I decided to raid his Haven without scouting counting for his level (higher than mine) that he could not have sufficient forces if he lost this major attack and 2 hours later when my raid reached his Haven I knew I was right! 

and that's also my record plunder amount!

So to conclude: do NOT attack, especially a complete stranger, without scouting!!!

Raiding the Enemy Haven for Plunder

Hey guys, so in Pirates Tides of Fortune Blog scouting is very important. You do the scouting with the Flying Dutchmen! Ha-ha! :) which is a fast flying unit with the strength in Scoutin': 30 Speed 24.5 mph - it is very expensive to buy so losing some is always painful.

So you select one or more and send them on a mission. One is enough if you know there is no scouting defense, otherwise you need more. The more there are the less chance you lose any.

Here I have scouted a sweet target for myself! Arrrr!!! All the defense has been destroyed so the loot is there for the taking!

Sending out my raiding party! Attack you pirates! Who wants to live forever?!
